The Importance of Gratitude
The key to abundance is gratitude. The feeling of abundance is powerful enough to birth manifestations! In order to be grateful for what is yet to come, you should learn to be grateful for what you already have. Otherwise, you will indefinitely experience a sense of inadequacy whenever you achieve your desires. Nothing will ever be enough! Learning to appreciate the little things in life is a reminder to the universe that you can appreciate the bigger milestones life has in store for you.
Gratitude also helps you live in the present. This is crucial because the capitalistic world we live in reinforces hyper individualism which leads to constant working and lack of a social life. Due to a constant state of doing in order to avoid poverty, this hellscape cycle strips us from the joy of being in the moment. But, creating space for joy and appreciation of milestones, no matter how small they may seem, will fuel your survival in this cycle. Most importantly, it will create space for even more abundance and success in your life.
Gratitude does not mean bypassing your trauma or suppressing your feelings. I grew up thinking that despite whatever challenges I was facing, there was always someone out in the world going through worse, so I should somehow learn to suck it up. Luckily, I can now recognize that it was an avoidant way of suppressing my emotions which did not make them go away. I still had to face them in order to cope with the pain. Therefore, gratitude should never equate to being positive 24/7 in order to avoid “negative” feelings.
Find things that genuinely make you happy in your daily existence and center your gratitude around them. It should not feel forced. Whatever brings you joy will naturally ignite appreciation. If nothing comes to mind, then you should create room in your life for something that brings you joy.
