Know Your Worth!
Knowing your sense of worth is one of the most invaluable tools at your disposal throughout your lifetime. Having a sense of dignity is synonymous with self love. In a previous blog, I describe how experiencing divine love requires radical self love! To expand on this, I would like to explore what having unconditional love for self actually entails.
Most people would probably describe unconditional love as loving someone fully without expectations or conditions. I would argue that this definition is inherently toxic if it doesn’t acknowledge setting healthy boundaries within relationships. Most people would argue that parental love given to a child should be unconditional and I also disagree with this sentiment. Even though it is the inherent responsibility of parents to accept their child as they are and support them fully, accountability when needed is key in nurturing kids to be the fullest expression of themselves.
Similarly, I agree that God loves us unconditionally despite our mistakes and that will always remain constant. However, the universe still has expectations that we strive to be the highest version of ourselves and treat others how we desire to be treated. This means our relationship with the divine requires intentionally setting boundaries to hold ourselves accountable.
This connects back to your sense of worth because if you cannot set boundaries with yourself, how do you expect to apply that in other relationships? You are inherently worthy simply because you exist! Do not allow others to degrade your character due to lack of self empowerment. Enforcing healthy boundaries for yourself and others is a work in progress but continuous shadow work will make the practice easier. The key is to remember it starts with you, so how do you show up for yourself?
